Stars Win Fight, Lose Game

The Dallas Stars lost to the Minnesota Wild 5-2 Saturday night.  The Stars held a 2-1 advantage midway through the 2nd period when Steve Ott got into a fight with the Wild’s Darroll Powe.  Ott got the best of Powe, but as he looked on from the penalty box, Minnesota rallied for 4 goals.

Dallas head coach Glen Gulutzan lamented the momentum swing, “I’d have rather not had it happen. When you’re winning 2-1 in somebody else’s building, it’s full, 19,000 people, I’d rather just have everybody sleepy.”

The Stars opened the scoring in the first period with a tip-in by Eric Nystrom, assisted by Stephane Robidas and Vernon Fiddler.  After giving up a power-play goal, Philip Larsen put Dallas ahead with a slapshot.  Larsen was assisted by Alex Goligoski and Loui Eriksson.

Goaltender Kari Lehtonen gave up 4 goals on 19 shots before being replaced by Richard Bachman who gave up 1 goal on 7 shots.

The Stars have lost 5 straight.  They return home to the American Airlines Center Tuesday to host Anaheim.
