Stars Win Shootout Over Coyotes

The Dallas Stars won their 40th game of the season (40-28-5) with a shootout victory over the Phoenix Coyotes Tuesday night at the American Airlines Center.
Dallas held a 3-1 lead going into the 3rd period, but Phoenix rallied for 2 goals to send the game into overtime. Dallas goaltender Kari Lehtonen stopped 5 Phoenix shots in overtime to send the game into a shootout.
Mike Ribeiro scored the only goal in the shootout.
Loui Eriksson opened the scoring with a goal just 2 minutes into the game to give Dallas the early lead. The Stars would get 2 more goals in the 2nd period, both by Michael Ryder, and both assisted by Eriksson and Ribeiro. Ryder’s 32 goals this season are a career-high.
Lehtonen stopped 27 of 30 shots in the game.
The Stars are in first place in the Pacific Division and will host Vancouver on Thursday night.
