The Dallas Stars won for the second time in three games as they beat the Detroit Red Wings 2-1 Tuesday night.

Michael Ryder scored both goals for Dallas, his first goals of the season.  “I knew it was going to take a couple of games to get into it, the timing and everything,” said Ryder. “It’s only one game, but I feel better as each game goes on. That’s a good thing and I’ve got to make sure I keep doing what I did tonight and keep improving every game.”

Newly acquired Cody Eakin provided assists on both goals.  Eakin comes to Dallas from the Washington Capitals.

Goaltender Kari Lehtonen saved 39 of 40 shots, just missing a shutout in the final seconds.  The Red Wings attempted 20 shots on goal in the third period.  “It was a good win. It was fairly easy the first 50 minutes I would say, and then Detroit came harder,” Lehtonen said. “It was nice to have that two-goal lead at that time. It made it more calm for the whole team. This place is not easy to come to and get wins. It was huge.”

The Stars have the day off before hosting the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday at the American Airlines Center.
