TCU Basketball Wins Opener

Forward Vladimir Brodziansky scored 19 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out five assists as TCU led all the way en route to a 90-77 victory over Southeastern Louisiana in the season opener for both teams Friday night in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Horned Frogs, playing their first game in a renovated and re-named Schollmaier Arena, jumped to a 15-3 lead and never looked back.

Guard Chauncey Collins scored 17 points, and forward Karviar Shepherd scored 16 points and added six rebounds in the victory.

Guard Zay Jackson scored 19 points and grabbed 16 rebounds while fellow guard Keith Charleston added 11 points and grabbed seven boards for the Lions, who were guilty of 37 fouls and had four players foul out.

Brodziansky was 6-of-7 shooting from the floor.

The Horned Frogs, who got off to a 13-0 start en route to an 18-15 final record a season ago, went 36 of 47 from the foul line and hit six of their 12 3-pointers in the victory. Collins was 9- of-9 from the line while Shepherd was 8-of-10.

Guard Malique Trent, the NJCAA freshman of the year last season before transferring to TCU, scored eight points and had four assists and four rebounds in his Division I debut.
