TCU beats Florida State 8-1

The TCU Horned Frogs, playing in their first College World Series game, showed no signs of being nervous as they jumped out to a 5-1 lead after only 1 inning and never looked back.

Florida State scored first, an unearned run in the top of the 1st, but the TCU bats came out swinging.  The Frogs got 5 runs on 6 hits in the first, and that was more than enough cusion.

Florida State was playing it’s 20th CWS game, but could not get anything on offense after the 1st inning.  TCU starting pitcher Matt Purke, undefeated on the season, struck out 7 in 7 innings, allowing just 4 hits.

On Monday, TCU will play the winner of the Florida/UCLA game.
