TCU Extends Patterson Contract

TCU football coach Gary Patterson had his contract extended through the 2022 season.

Patterson is entering his 16th season as TCU coach and has a 143-47 record. The Horned Frogs are 23-3 over the past two seasons.

“Gary Patterson is synonymous with TCU and Fort Worth,” athletic director Chris Del Conte said in a statement. “His value to our community goes beyond the football field. It’s obviously a great day for our Horned Frogs’ family when Coach Patterson reiterates that TCU and Fort Worth are his home.”

TCU has recorded six national top-10 finishes in Patterson’s 15 campaigns. The Horned Frogs have won at least 11 games nine times during Patterson’s tenure.

Patterson, 56, is the third-longest tenured FBS head coach behind Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz and Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops. Ferentz and Stoops are entering their 18th seasons.

Patterson’s previous contract was to expire after the 2020 season. Reports have his salary at approximately $4 million.
