FORT COLLINS, Colo. – No. 41 TCU clinched at least a share of the Mountain West regular season title Sunday with a 6-1 triumph over Colorado State at the Miramont Indoor Tennis Facility.

The Horned Frogs improved to 14-5 overall and 6-0 in the Mountain West with a win in their seventh-straight match. Colorado State fell to 4-12, 0-4. With a win Saturday over New Mexico or a San Diego State loss to Air Force today, TCU will win the outright regular season crown.

TCU has won the outright Mountain West regular season title three times and also finished in a tie for first in 2007. This year’s league championship is the first for the Frogs since 2008 and second with Dave Borelli as head coach.

Gaby Mastromarino and Simona Parajova led the Frogs again in doubles as they won for the eighth-straight time and improved to 12-1 during the spring with an 8-4 triumph over Adriana Wojakowska and Veronika Wojakowska at No. 3 doubles.

At No. 2 doubles, Federica Denti and Kelsey Sundaram followed with an 8-2 win over Emese Kardhordo and Lauren Mulhern. TCU’s top tandem of Millie Nichols and Olivia Smith picked up an 8-2 triumph of their own over Tori Arneson and Kaley Schultz.

TCU won all five of its singles matches in straight-set fashion as Smith was the first off the court when she scored a 6-1, 6-2 win over Arneson at No. 1 singles to give TCU a 2-0 lead. Mastromarino’s 6-4, 6-1 win over Veronika Wojakowska, her fifth in a row, made it a 3-0 in favor of the Frogs.

Denti clinched the match for TCU when she knocked off Natalit Heffron, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 2 singles. Nichols followed with a 6-2, 6-3 dismantling of Schultz. Gabi Barbosa added TCU’s sixth point, a 6-2, 6-3 downing of Adrina Wojakowska.

The Frogs return to action Saturday when they host New Mexico at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. First serve is set for 10 a.m., and a win would give TCU its fourth outright Mountain West title.
