AUSTIN, Texas – The TCU women’s basketball team suffered a 79-45 setback to Texas in Tuesday’s regular-season finale at Frank Erwin Center.

The Horned Frogs closed the regular season with a 17-12 overall record and 9-9 mark in Big 12 play, while Texas improved to 20-9 on the season and 9-9 in league action.

Junior guard Zahna Medley led TCU with 16 points, while Veja Hamilton and Natalie Ventress also scored in double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

TCU was plagued by cold shooting the entire night, shooting just 28 percent (16-of-58) from the field while connecting on only three 3-pointers on 22 attempts.

Texas jumped out to a quick 15-4 lead before Medley snapped a seven-minute scoring drought with a fastbreak layup at the 10:10 mark of the first half.

The Frogs clawed back, using a 7-0 run to come to within one at 21-20 when Medley connected on a 3-pointer and Ventress converted an inbounds pass in the paint at the 3:04 mark.

Trailing by just five at the break, the Frogs fell back into a scoring drought, as the Longhorns used a 15-1 run over a seven-minute span midway through the second half to push out to a 60-33 lead.

Kelsey Lang led the Longhorns with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

The Frogs earned the No. 3 seed for the 2015 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship and will take on Texas again at 8:30 p.m., Saturday at the American Airlines Center. Single game tickets can be purchased on Big12Sports.com.
