TCU Women’s Tennis Sweep Old Dominion

FORT WORTH – TCU’s women’s tennis team ran its winning streak to three with a 7-0 blanking of Old Dominion on Friday afternoon at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
The No. 38-ranked Horned Frogs improved to 3-0 on the year with the win in the first meeting in the history of the two programs. Old Dominion slipped to 4-1.
TCU made quick work in the doubles as TCU’s top doubles tandem of Millie Nichols and Olivia Smith claimed an 8-3 win over Nikol Hristova and Diana Ivanova. At No. 2 doubles, Federica Denti and Kelsey Sundaram clinched the point with an 8-4 win over Juliana Peres and Ivana Vukovic.
As singles began, Smith continued her solid play, picking up a 6-1, 6-1 win over Vukovic at No. 3 singles. It was the Bath, England, native’s third win of the year. Nichols made it 3-0 in favor of TCU with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Melissa Esnal Olguin.
Simona Parajova clinched the match for the Frogs with a 6-1, 7-6 (2) triumph at the expense of Hristova at No. 2 singles. Stefanie Tan then provided TCU’s fifth point, claiming a 6-3, 6-4 win over Ivanova on the top singles court.
Denti continued the Frog onslaught with her 7-5, 6-2 dismissal of Nika Khmolovska at No. 6 singles. Gabi Barbosa completed TCU’s first sweep of the year, grabbing a 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 win over Pires at No. 4 singles.
TCU returns to action Saturday when it hosts No. 9 Alabama. First serve is set for 1 p.m. at the indoor facility of the Friedman Tennis Center.
