TCU’s James Named MWC Offensive Player Of The Week
|COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — TCU tailback Waymon James has been named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week after his career-high 181 yards rushing on just 12 carries in Saturday’s 31-20 win at Wyoming.
A sophomore from Sherman, Texas, James ran for 117 yards on five attempts in the fourth quarter. His career-long 74-yard carry on TCU’s first play of the quarter set up a touchdown two plays later to give the Horned Frogs a two-score lead in the game.
James’ 74-yard run was TCU’s longest play of the season and longest carry by a Horned Frog since Marcus Jackson went 79 yards for a touchdown at SMU in 2008.
James posted his second 100-yard game of the season and third of his career. His 181 yards were the most by a Horned Frog since Ed Wesley ran for 209 against Air Force last year.
For the season, James tops TCU with 652 yards rushing on an 8.5 per carry mark.
