FORT WORTH – TCU’s Agnes Kemboi was named Big 12 Runner of the Week Tuesday for her first-place effort at the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday. Kemboi is the first TCU student-athlete across all sports to win two Big 12 weekly awards.

Kemboi dominated the gold division of the Notre Dame Invitational, crossing the line in a 5K time of 16:53, 18 seconds ahead of her closest competitor. Her effort led the Horned Frogs to first place in the women’s team competition, which TCU won by 24 points. Kemboi was the best among four Horned Frogs women who finished in the top-15.

Kemboi, a senior from Eldoret, Kenya, has had a magnificent 2012 campaign. She started out the season with a second-place effort at the Bear Twilight Invitational in Waco. She followed that up with a strong win at the Ken Garland Invitational at North Texas, which earned Kemboi her first Big 12 Runner of the Week award of the year.

The TCU cross country squads resume competition on Oct. 13 when they run at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark.
