Terry shoots Mavs to win victory

Jason Terry scored 12 4th quarter points to lift the Dallas Mavericks over the Portland Trail Blazers Tuesday night 84-81.  It is the 7th time this year Terry has scored 10 or more points in the 4th quarter, Dallas won all 7.   “He was huge for us and I was happy for him to get his rhythm back. When he makes shots like that, we’re deadly. It was great to see him in the fourth quarter back to his usual self”, said team mate Tyson Chandler.

The Mavericks were playing without two of their starters, Dirk Nowitzki and Caron Butler.  Nowitzki has missed 5 straight games and Butler will miss the rest of the season following knee surgery. 

DeShawn Stevenson joined Terry with 18 points for the game to lead the Mavericks in scoring.  J. J. Barea came off the bench to score 10.

Tyson Chandler added 14 plus 13 rebounds.  Chandler is shooting 85.4% from the field over the last 8 games.  The Mavericks are 6-0 when he gets a double-double.

Dallas hosts Oklahoma City on Thursday.
