Top women continue to fall at BNP Paribas Open

Big names fall for the 4th consecutive day at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, CA.  The No. 3 seed, Victoria Azarenka is the latest to go out early.  Azarenka lost in the 3rd Round to Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez (28).  Martinez Sanchez dominated with her serve, winning 73% of her first serve points and scoring 7 aces.

Also falling in the 3rd was No. 9 Flavia Pennetta and No. 14 Kim Clijsters. Unseeded Carla Suarez Navarro, who already knocked out the top seed, won against 27th seeded Agnes Szavay.

Winners on the men’s side included (2) Novak Djokovic and (3) Rafael Nadal.  The lone upset in the top 10 was (10) Fernando Verdasco losing to (190 Tomas Berdych.

In the battle of Americans, John Isner (15) defeated Sam Querrey (17).
