TxDOT To Help Traffic for Race Weekend

FORT WORTH, Texas (April 11, 2012) – Traffic flow for this week’s Samsung Mobile 500 NASCAR doubleheader at Texas Motor Speedway will not be affected by any DFW Connector or Highway 114 construction projects as TxDOT will be shutting down any that require lane closures for the race weekend.

It will be a light traffic day at Texas Motor Speedway on Thursday with only NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series practice sessions, but TxDOT will close down the Highway 114 project beginning that day as well as Friday and Saturday. Any construction involving lane closures for the DFW Connector project will be halted beginning Friday afternoon.

Prior to the start of Friday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series qualifying, the Fort Worth Police Department’s Traffic Division will implement contraflow traffic lanes around the motorsports facility for inbound race traffic beginning at 4:30 p.m. CT.

At the conclusion of that evening’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 NASCAR Nationwide race, the FWPD will have contraflow traffic lanes to move traffic out of the venue. The race begins at 7:30 p.m. CT and should conclude between 9:30 and 10 p.m.

For Saturday night’s Samsung Mobile 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, FWPD also will conduct contraflow for both inbound and outbound race traffic. The inbound contraflow will focus specifically in and around the speedway property and entrance points.

For outbound traffic, the contraflow will extend from the speedway to Highway 114/Roanoke/Litsey Road for those traveling east. The contraflow also will extend south on Highway 156 to Eagle Parkway/Alliance Corridor. The Samsung Mobile 500 begins at 6:30 p.m. and should conclude between 10 and 11 p.m.
