DENTON, Texas – Middle Tennessee had won eight straight matches over the North Texas volleyball team dating back to 2006, but the Mean Green made sure that streak ended in dominating fashion on Sunday afternoon (25-19, 25-20, 25-18).

North Texas (18-7, 4-2 Sun Belt West) pounded the Blue Raiders, who have advanced to the SBC Tournament finals in each of the last three seasons, with .340 hitting as a team, including a match-high 13 kills from Carnae Dillard. MTSU (5-16, 2-4 SBC East) eliminated the Mean Green from each of the last two SBC tourneys.

Courtney Windham was nearly unstoppable on both ends of the floor. The junior scored 11 kills on 19 swings (.529 hitting) and sent back five blocks – three of the solo variety. In fact, Windham out-blocked the entire MTSU squad, which mustered four blocks on the day.

The NT defense kept the Blue Raiders off balance all afternoon as five Mean Green players posted at least six digs; Shelby Tamura (8), Camille Cherry (7), Addason Lamb (7), Eboni Godfrey (6) and Dillard (6). The efforts helped keep a hot-hitting MTSU squad at .224 hitting.

North Texas trails UALR by a single match in the SBC standings, and now hits the road for Troy (Oct. 12) and South Alabama (Oct. 13) next weekend.
