DENTON, Texas – CBS Sports named North Texas sophomore forward Tony Mitchell a Preseason All-American and the No. 7 ranked player in the country on Monday.

The accolade adds to Mitchell’s impressive resume, which already includes Preseason All-America nods from Basketball Times, Athlon Sports and ESPN’s Blue Ribbon Report. The Dallas Pinkston High School graduate racked up 14.7 points, 10.3 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game en route to earning Sun Belt Freshman of the Year honors.

Mitchell was a finalist for the Lou Henson Award (Mid-Major Player of the Year) after he joined Kentucky’s Anthony Davis as the only freshmen in the country to average a double-double. In league games only, Mitchell led the Sun Belt in scoring, rebounding, 3-point percentage, blocks, and finished second in field goal percentage.
