Upsets abound at Indian Wells

The top seeded woman falls in the 2nd round, along with 3 other seeded players.  Svetlana Kuznetsova (1) lost to Carla Suarez Navarro, followed by the upsets of high-profile players Daniela Huntuchova (21) and Ana Ivanovic (24).

Other top-seeds in action were Victoria Azarenka (3), Jelena jankovic (6), Samantha Stosur (8), and Flavia Pennetta (9), all winning.  Defending Indian Wells champion Vera Zvonareva also advanced to the 3rd Round.

For the men, No. 2 Novak Djokovic, No. 3 Rafael Nadal, No. 5 Nikolay Davydenko, and No. 10 Fernando Verdasco all easily advanced.  The lone top-10 upset was Guillermo Garcia-Lopez winning over No. 8 Marin Cilic.

One of the most crowd-pleasing matches took place in Men’s Doubles, as the team of James Blake and Andy Roddick won over Ross Hutchins and Andy Murray.
