US Women’s Basketball Sets Records

The U.S. finished pool play atop group A with a 5-0 record after routing China, 114-66, Sunday (Aug. 5) at the Basketball Arena. Led by 22 points and four steals from Diana Taurasi, the U.S. featured six players in double-digit scoring and set U.S. Olympic records for as- sists (32) and field goals made (52). The 114 points tied Team USA’s all-time Olympic single-game scoring high that had also been tallied against Spain in 1992. The U.S. advances to the quarterfinals, scheduled to begin Tuesday.
