UTA Volleyball Gets 20th Win

MONROE, La. – UT Arlington picked up the program’s first 20-win season since 2006 in a three-set sweep over ULM at Faint-Ewing Coliseum on Sunday afternoon.

The Mavericks improve to 20-5 on the season with a 10-3 record in conference play while the Warhawks fall to 7-19 this year with a 1-12 record in the Sun Belt. The victory is the seventh straight for UT Arlington which is the longest win streak since 2010 and marks the 24th season that the Mavericks have recorded at least 20-wins.

UTA was paced offensively by Briana Sharratt who recorded nine kills and a hitting percentage of .467 in the match to go along with four blocks.

Caitlyn Cooney led the Mavs defensively as the junior libero recorded 20 digs in the sweep.

Amanda Welsh registered her sixth double-double of the season in the match as the Austin native notched 18 assists and 12 digs.

The Mavericks hit .301 in the match while allowing the Warhawks to hit .158. UTA also outblocked ULM eight to two in the match.

The Mavericks will return to action on Friday, Oct. 31 when they travel to Atlanta to take on Georgia State with the match set to begin at 5 p.m.
