ARLINGTON, Texas – Senior pitcher Callie Collins earned UT Arlington’s first Sun Belt Conference softball accolades by being named the SBC Pitcher of the Week.

Collins made five appearances and three starts during the UTA Hilton Invitational, earning a 3-0 record and allowing just two earned runs through 19.1 innings pitched.

“Callie showed her senior maturity and composure this weekend,” UT Arlington coach Kristie Fox said. “She had to carry a lot of the load in these six games over the weekend and competed one pitch at a time. She was a leader in the fact that she was focused on her job and trusted the defense to play behind her. I’m glad she was honored for her hard work this week.”

Collins struck out eight in her first start of the tournament against Creighton, giving up just two hits and walking one. She followed the performance up in her next start against UMKC, allowing two earned runs and striking out five in UT Arlington’s 4-3 win.

In her second start against UMKC, Collins struck out four batters in four innings as UTA run-ruled the Kangaroos 8-0 in five innings.

Over the course of the tournament, she struck out 22 batters, allowed just four walks and accumulated a 0.93 ERA.

This is Collins’ third-career player of the week award, last time picking up the honor as the Southland Conference Pitcher of the week in 2011.
