Bubba Watson defeated Louis Oosthuizen with a par-4 on the second playoff hole (No. 10) to win the 76th Masters Tournament and become the fourth different American to win since 2000 (Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Zach Johnson). American’s have won 8 of the last 13 Masters dating to 2000.  Watson moves to second in the FedExCup standings with 1322 points, trailing Hunter Mahan.

Oosthuizen made the first double eagle ever on No. 2 at the Masters in the final round (4 iron from 253 yards). It is the fourth double eagle in Masters history:

No. 8 Bruce Devlin, 1967, first round (4-wood, 248 yards)

No. 13 Jeff Maggert, 1994, fourth round (3-iron, 222 yards)

No. 15 Gene Sarazen, 1935, fourth round (4-wood, 235 yards).

Lee Westwood, Matt Kuchar, Phil Mickelson, and Peter Hanson tied for third.  Mickelson and Kuchar are the first players since 1999 to birdie the 18th hole at Augusta National GC the first three-rounds (Shigeki Maruyama and Justin Leonard). They both made par in the final round.

Outside of missing the cut in 1996 as an amateur and finishing T41 in 1995 as an amateur, Tiger Woods’ worst finish at the Masters as a professional was T22 in 2004. He won the next year in 2005.  Woods finished T40, 15 shots out of the lead.
