Wild Loses In Springfield

The Texas Wild traveled to Springfield Monday night with hopes of securing first place in the Western conference of the Mylan World Team Tennis league.

Things looked good for the wild early as Texas’ Alex Bogomolov Jr. defeated the Lasers’ Rik De Voest 5-1 in men’s singles.

The Lasers came back in the mixed doubles match, with Jean-Julien Rojer and Alisa Kleybanova defeating the Wild’s Aisam Qureshi and Darija Jurak 5-3 to close the overall gap to 8-6 in favor of Texas.

The third set featured men’s doubles, with Qureshi and Bogomolov losing in a tie breaker to Rojer and De Voest.

The Wild got back on track in women’s singles, with Eugenie Bouchard defeating Vania King 5-4 and giving Texas the lead 17-15.

Springfield completed a sweep of the doubles sets, with King and Kleybanova defeating Bouchard and Jurak 5-1, to give the Lasers the overall win 20-18.

The Wild return to Orange County tonight to take on the Breakers.  Bob and Mike Bryan are scheduled to make their first appearance with the team in the match, which will be streamed live on wtt.com/live
