Wild Wins In Overtime

The Texas Wild took on the Boston Lobsters as they came to Irving on Saturday night. Playing for the Lobsters was former top 10 player and Wimbledon finalist, Mark Philippoussis.

After dropping the first set to the Lobsters in mixed doubles 5-4, the ladies of the Texas Wild, Eugenie Bouchard and Darija Jurak, defeated Jill Craybas and Katalin Marosi 5-0.

In men’s doubles the Wild’s Aisam Qureshi and Alex Bogomolov Jr. took on Philippoussis and Eric Butorac. Philippoussis did not disappoint the crowd with several aces in the first game. In the end, the Wild lost the men’s doubles 5-3.

In women’s singles Bouchard took on Boston’s Jill Craybas. After breaking Craybus in the first game, Bouchard held to take a 2-0 lead. Bouchard ended up taking the set in a decisive 5-2 victory.

In the final set the Wild’s Bogomolov played Philippoussis in a match that went to a tie-breaker with Philippoussis taking it in a tie breaker, which sent the match into overtime. The first game of overtime Bogomolov Jr. held serve winning the game and clinching the match 22-17 (OT).
