Wilson Throws Complete Game Shutout Against Rays

Texas pitcher CJ Wilson joined the list of Rangers pitchers to toss a shutout this year.  With the 8-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rays, the Rangers have compiled 18 shutouts on the season, tying a team record.  It is Wilson’s first of his career.

Wilson only allowed 5 hits in the game, all singles.  He struck out 6.

The Rangers offense provided run support from the beginning, generating 5 runs in the first 3 innings.  8 of the 9 positions in the lineup had hits, led by David Murphy, who was 4-for-4.  Murphy’s hits included a home run and two doubles.  Ian Kinsler led off the game with a home run, the 7th time this season he has done that.  Adrian Beltre extended his hitting streak to 12 games.

Texas was able to extend it’s lead in the AL West to 3 1/2 games with the Angels losing at home to Seattle.  The Rangers close out the series with the Rays this afternoon.
