Dallas Mavericks Take 2-0 Series Lead on Late Luka Doncic 3 Pointer

Luka Doncic capped off a 32 point triple double with a clutch step-back three-pointer over reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert that put the Dallas Mavericks ahead 109-108 and a 2-0 series lead heading back to Dallas.

“I can’t move fast, but I can move faster than him,” Doncic said, speaking of Gobert on “Inside the NBA” postgame on TNT.

Irving added 20 points including four three pointers.

The Timberwolves got off to a strong start and built up an 18-point lead, but the Mavericks were able to battle back and take the lead late in the fourth quarter.

Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic were key for Dallas, with Irving hitting a clutch three-pointer in the final seconds of the third quarter to kickstart his patented fourth quarter dominance.

Anthony Edwards struggled for Minnesota, scoring 15 points, but ending the night with a -9 for his time on the court.

Karl Anthony Towns, the Timberwolves other All-Star, also had a rough night as he played just under 26 minutes on the night and had a woeful 4-of-16 shooting from the field.

Naz Reid was the star of the night for Minnesota, scoring 23 points including seven three-pointers, but he missed what would have been a game-winning three as time expired.

Game 3 is Sunday night at 7:00 at American Airlines Center and airs on TNT and the Max app.
