PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AAC/SMU) – SMU seniors Kenneth Acker and Jeremy Johnson have been named All-American Athletic Conference in a vote by the league’s 10 head coaches, the conference office announced Wednesday.

Acker, a cornerback, was a second-team pick after finishing the year with 16 passes defended, ranking second in The American and 11th in the nation. Acker started all 12 games for SMU and was seventh on the team with 46 tackles, including 38 solo (fourth on the team). His three interceptions were most on the team.

Johnson, a second-team pick at wide receiver, led the league and team in receptions with 112 for a conference- and team-high 1,112 yards (92.7 per game) and added six touchdowns. His 9.3 catch-per-game average was third-best nationally and tops in the AAC. He finished the season with two of the top-10 single-game reception totals (Rutgers (1st, 18), at USF (6th, 13)) and the most yards ever in a game with 217 against Rutgers. He had a school-best seven 10+-reception games and five 100-yard games in 2013.
