IRVING, TX – Dallas native Jordan Spieth will return to the course where he made his PGA TOUR debut in 2010, this time as a TOUR professional. Spieth has accepted a sponsor exemption to play in the 2013 HP Byron Nelson Championship.

Spieth is coming off his best result as a TOUR professional, finishing tied for second last weekend at the Puerto Rico Open presented by seepuertorico.com. Earlier this season he finished T-22 at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Additionally, Jordan also finished T-4th at the Colombia Championship and T-7th at the Panama Claro Championship on the Web.com Tour since turning professional in mid-December.

“We know bright things are in store for Jordan as he begins his career on the PGA TOUR,” 2013 Tournament Chairman Mike McKinley said. “He did so well here as an amateur and we are looking forward to welcoming him back and seeing him compete at this year’s tournament.”

Last season Jordan finished as the Low Amateur in the U.S. Open. Earlier that spring he led the University of Texas to a National Championship and was named an NCAA First Team All-American as well as the Big 12 Conference Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year.

The former Longhorn and Dallas Jesuit standout has competed in the Nelson twice, in 2010 and 2011, as an amateur.

In 2010, Jordan made national headlines when he finished T-16. That mark continues to stand as the best amateur finish in the history of the event. At the 2011 Nelson, Spieth made the cut for the second year in a row and finished T-32. During his years at Dallas Jesuit Prep., he was also a three time Texas UIL Class 5A State Champion and a two-time U.S. Junior Amateur Champion.

The 2013 HP Byron Nelson Championship will be played May 13-19 at the TPC Four Seasons Resort Las Colinas in Irving.
