Dominguez Grabs Four Wins With CMRA At Texas World Speedway

{fshare id=2401}

The Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association (CMRA) second round weekend saw larger grids, big names, and non-stop action. Temperatures in the 80’s, and a light breeze on both race days made very favorable conditions for fast speeds and a large spectator turnout at the 2.9 mile Texas World Speedway course this past weekend, March 24-25, at College Station, Texas.

Dustin Dominguez rocked the B Superstock Expert, B Superbike Expert, South Central Race Center C Superstock Expert, and Island Racing Services C Superbike Expert races, taking the win in all four classes. Dominguez had this to say,” The FMF FactoryTriumph Daytona felt awesome with the new Pirelli tires we tried for the first time this weekend. The grip was amazing, and the bike felt great. It was really good racing too, I started dead last on the grid for C Superstock, and won by .01 of a second at the line. Everything went very well. I can’t thank my sponsors and my friends enough for their help. I’m looking forward to being ready for the next rounds with CMRA and AMA.”

Local favorite Ty Howard worked through some mechanical issues on his KTM RC8 and rode away with wins in Formula 1 Expert and Heavyweight Twins. “Overall, it was a bit of a struggle this weekend, ” says Howard. “A rubber O-ring failed on a valve stem during the warm-up lap of A Superstock, and gave me a flat tire that kept me from the race. On Saturday, there were some issues with the endurance bike that kept me from getting as much seat time as I wanted. I rode pretty good, but I wish I could’ve found another second and a half. I have a good plan for Eagle’s Canyon, and am looking forward to the next round.”

Shane Turpin on the Boulder Motorsports Ducati had the fast lap of the day with a 1:43.26, and came away with

the wins in 212 Decals.com A Superbike Expert and Formula 40 Heavyweight Expert. Turpin had this to say, “We needed to get some testing in for World Superbike (WSBK), CMRA has such good grids with lots of talent, and thought Texas World Speedway world be a good track to do it at. Mick Boasman from Nemesis had come down to work on the suspension with the Boulder Motorsports guys, and we wanted to try everything we could to get ready for WSBK. This is the second time I’ve ridden the bike, and it’s just amazing. Everything went really well, I had a great time racing with Ty, he’s a great rider, and I can’t say thank you enough to David and Don Sprague and Boulder Motorsports for making this happen. We did turn the fastest lap time of the day, and that’s all due to the Yamaha Champions Riding School teaching me how to find those apexes and helping me fine tune my body positioning so I can ride the beast.”

Top novices from the weekend include: Will Zamora took away three wins in Formula 1 Novice, Onroad Offroad Suspension A Superstock Novice, and A Superbike Novice. AJ Flores pulled down three wins in B Superbike Novice, House of Paint C Superbike Novice, and Moto Liberty C Superstock Novice. The new North Texas Superbikes Formula1 Ladies class more than doubled in size to 11 starters, and Jane Ryder took away her second win in the class.
