FRISCO, TEXAS -The Frisco RoughRiders defeated the Corpus Christi Hooks 5-1 Tuesday at Dr Pepper Ballpark in game one of the teams’ final series of the season. In relief of Rangers’ rehabber Nick Tepesch, Nick Martinez tossed seven innings of no-hit baseball.

With one out in the first, Ronny Torreyes singled to center field and advanced to second on a groundout by Preston Tucker. Erik Castro doubled to the left field wall as the Hooks (38-26, 80-54) took a 1-0 lead.

The RoughRiders (27-37, 66-68) struck in the fifth with a home run to left field by Ryan Rua. Ryan Strausborger walked, Luis Sardinas singled and then Rougned Odor knocked a singled RBI, advancing to second on the throw. Later in the frame, Sardinas scored on a passed ball, putting Frisco up 3-1.

Sardinas and Odor began the eighth with singles, and then Kalian Sams knocked a sac fly to bring home a run. Later, Brett Nicholas knocked a single RBI, extending Frisco’s lead 5-1.

In his first rehab start, Rangers’ starter Nick Tepesch allowed one run on three hits with

one walk in two innings. Nick Martinez (1-0) came on in the third, pitching seven hitless innings with six strikeouts and one walk for the win. David Rollins (0-2) allowed three runs on seven hits in six innings for the defeat.

The ‘Riders continue their series with the Corpus Christi Hooks Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Jerad Eickhoff (1-1, 6.75 ERA) will make the start for the RoughRiders. The Hooks will counter with Mike Foltynewicz (5-3, 2.90 ERA).
