Martin Kaymer wins 2010 PGA Championship

Martin Kaymer shot a final round 2-under 70 to force his way into a 3-hole playoff with Bubba Watson, in which he emerged the victor in the season’s final major championship.  With this win. Kaymer becomes the sixth first-time major championship winner in the last seven major events.

Bubba Watson’s playoff loss is his best finish in 11 major championship starts.

Dustin Johnson bogeyed the final hole to force the playoff with Kaymer and Watson, however, PGA officials ruled that he grounded his club on the 72nd hole and was given a 2-stroke penalty which eliminated him from contention.  Johnson finished tied for 5th.

Tiger Woods finished with a 1-over 73.  Woods has now gone two years without winning a major championship title.
