The Dallas Mavericks lost at home to the Los Angeles Lakers 109-93 Wednesday night at the American Airlines Center.  The Lakers snapped the Mavericks’ four-game winning streak and handed Dallas its first home loss in the month of March (Dallas moved to 5-1 at home in March). The Mavericks moved to 18-8 at home for the season.

Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki recorded his 27th 20-point effort of the year with a team-high 26 points on 10-of-24 shooting. He added a game-high 10 rebounds in 36 minutes, giving him second straight double-double and eighth of the season. Nowitzki has scored 25-plus points in each of his last five games.  Guard Jason Terry posted his eighth 20-point game of the season with 23 points (8-14 FGs, 3-6 3FGs, 4-4 FTs) in 34 minutes off the bench. He’s made at least three 3-pointers in five of his last seven games. Terry and Nowitzki (26) combined for 49 of the Mavericks’ 93 points in the loss.

Mavs forward Lamar Odom continued his streak of horrible play.  Odom finished with just 1 point, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 turnover in 24 minutes of play.  The Mavericks were -11 when he was in the game.

Dallas was held under 100 points for the first time in its last five games. The Lakers became just the ninth team to score 100 points against the Mavericks in regulation this season.

Kobe Bryant (30 points, 11-18 FGs), Pau Gasol (27 points, 13-16 FGs) and Ramon Sessions (17 points, 7-8 FGs) shot a combined 73.8 percent (31-42) from the field, scoring 74 of the Lakers’ 109 points in the win.

The Lakers outrebounded the Mavericks 46-29 on Wednesday. The 29 boards by Dallas marked a season-low.

Mavericks forward Shawn Marion missed his third consecutive game with a sore left knee. Mavericks center Brendan Haywood sat out for the third straight game due to a sprained right knee.

The Mavericks’ next game is at San Antonio on March 23 at 7:30 p.m.
