Mavs take 3-0 lead over Lakers

The Dallas Mavericks extended their 2nd round NBA Playoff series lead against the Los Angeles Lakers to 3 games to none Friday night in the American Airlines Center.

Trailing for most of the 2nd half, the Mavericks kept fighting and finally took the lead with 6:12 to go in the game.  The Mavericks outscored the Lakers 32-20 in the 4th quarter, on 9 of 15 shooting, including 5 from 3-point range.  For the series, Dallas has outscored L.A. 82-55 in the final quarter.

Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavs with 32 points and 9 rebounds.  Jason Terry came off the bench to score 23.  Peja Stojakovic scored 15, including 11 in the 4th quarter.

The Lakers’ Kobe Bryant, with 17 points, moved into 3rd place on the NBA’s all-time postseason scoring.  Bryant trails only Michael Jordan and Kareem-Abdul Jabbar.

Dallas will try to seal the sweep Sunday at home.  The Lakers will try to become the first team in NBA history to come from a 3-0 deficit to win a playoff series.
