The Texas Rangers defeated the Los Angeles Angels 6-2 on Wednesday night in Anaheim.  Former Ranger C.J. Wilson earned the loss to Rangers pitcher Derek Holland.

Holland went 7 innings, giving up 6 runs while striking out 4 to improve to 11- 6 on the season.  Wilson lasted less than 3 innings against his former teammates to drop to 12-10.

Texas was without their two power hitters in the lineup.  Josh Hamilton and Adrian Beltre were kept out of the lineup waiting on MRI results for injuries.  It is not known when they will return.

Offensively, the top of the order provided most of the firepower for the Rangers.  The first four batters accounted for 7 of the team’s 10 hits.  Ian Kinsler, Michael Young, and Nelson Cruz each had 2 hits in the game.

Geovany Soto hit a 2-run home run in the 8th inning.

The Rangers increased their lead in the AL West to 4 games over Oakland, who lost to Detroit.  Texas will play again tonight in Los Angeles.  Yu Darvish will take the mound for the Rangers for the 9:05pm game.
