Rangers defeat Rays

The Texas Rangers won a series on the road for the first time since April with a 3-0 victory over the Rays Wednesday in Tampa.

Colby Lewis went 8 innings for the Rangers, allowing just 4 hits while striking out 8.  The win is Lewis’ 5th on the season.  Neftali Feliz earned his 11th save of the year.  Rangers catcher Yorvit Torrealba was excited about Lewis’ performance.  “Awesome,” Torrealba said. “He pounded the strike zone on both sides of the plate, mixed up his fastball, changeup curveball, slider … he ran through it all on both sides of the plate.”

Right-fielder Nelson Cruz had a nice day at the plate for the Rangers, going 3 for 4 – half of the Rangers total hits.

The win gives the Rangers 2 out of 3 against the Rays.  Texas stays on the road to open a series at Cleveland on Thursday.
