Rangers Drop Game 1 To Rays

The Texas Rangers opened the 2011 ALDS in disastrous fashion on Friday at the Ballpark in Arlington.  The Rangers lost 9-0 to the Tampa Bay Rays.

Texas managed just 2 hits in the game, both by Josh Hamilton.  Tampa pitcher Matt Moore went 7 innings to earn the win.

Rangers starter C.J. Wilson gave up 3 home runs in 5 innings.  Wilson never had control of the strike zone as he allowed 8 runs.

Texas will have to be better at the plate in Game 2 when they face All-Star pitcher James Shields.  The Rangers only scored one run in 17 innings in the previous two games against Shields.

Game 2 is Saturday at 7:00pm at the Ballpark.
