Rangers Drop Series To Angels

The Texas Rangers failed to take the series against the Los Angeles Angels as they lose 7-4 on Sunday. With the loss, the Rangers lose the series 2-1 against their division rivals.

Matt Harrison was the starting pitcher for the Rangers and pitched for six innings. He gave up eight hits and four runs including three runs in the first two innings which seemed to give all of the momentum to the Angels. Harrison had four strikeouts in the loss.

Nelson Cruz hit his 12th home run of the season in the second inning in hopes of leading a comeback effort against the Angels. Cruz finished with two RBI’s, a hit and a run. Shortstop Elvis Andrus had two hits, a run and an RBI in the loss.

Pitcher Dan Haren got the start for the Angels and pitched six innings, giving up three hits and two runs in the win. The Angels offense came alive when Bobby Wilson hit his first home run of the season in the seventh inning. First baseman Albert Pujols followed Wilson by hitting his 18th home run of the season leading to two runs. Pujols finished with three RBI’s, two hits and a run in the win.

After the series, the Rangers now have a five game lead against the Angels and hope to extend their lead when they take on the Boston Red Sox in Arlington. First pitch is on Monday at 7:05 p.m.
