The Texas Rangers lost the opening game of a home series against the Detroit Tigers 6-2 on Friday night.  Starting pitcher Scott Feldman saw his 6-game win streak come to an  end in the 6th inning.

Nursing a one-run lead with two outs in the 6th, Feldman gave up three straight hits, the final being a home run by Prince Fielder.

The Rangers held an early lead when Josh Hamilton hit his 31st home run in the first inning.  They would extend the lead to 2-0 when Ian Kinsler led off with a double and scored on an Elvis Andrus single to left field.

While Feldman drops to 6-7, the Rangers kept a 5 1/2 game lead over the A’s in the AL West who lost to the White Sox.

Texas will put Derek Holland on the mound tonight to face Detroit’s Justin Verlander, who has never lost in Arlington.  First pitch is at 7:05pm.
