SMU Falls To UTEP In OT

The SMU Mustangs fell in overtime to the UTEP Miners 70-64 Saturday in El Paso. The Miners have won 17 of the last 18 games against the Mustangs.
Robert Nyakundi appeared to have won the game for SMU in regulation with a late 3-pointer, but a review of the play showed it was not in time. Nyakundi finished the game with 8 points.
The Mustangs were led by Jalen Jones, with 12 points, followed by Jeremiah Samarrippas with 11.
The Miners outscored the Mustangs 20-13 off turnovers and 34-26 in the paint. UTEP grabbed 30 rebounds to SMU’s 21.
The Mustangs return to Moody Coliseum on Wednesday for a conference game vs Houston.
