The SMU Mustangs fell in overtime to the UTEP Miners 70-64 Saturday in El Paso.  The Miners have won 17 of the last 18 games against the Mustangs.

Robert Nyakundi appeared to have won the game for SMU in regulation with a late 3-pointer, but a review of the play showed it was not in time.   Nyakundi finished the game with 8 points.

The Mustangs were led by Jalen Jones, with 12 points, followed by Jeremiah Samarrippas with 11.

The Miners outscored the Mustangs 20-13 off turnovers and 34-26 in the paint.  UTEP grabbed 30 rebounds to SMU’s 21.

The Mustangs return to Moody Coliseum on Wednesday for a conference game vs Houston.
