Stars Lose In Shootout To Red Wings

The Dallas Stars lost to the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 in a shootout Tuesday night at the American Airlines Center.  It is the 3rd straight loss for the Stars.

Both of Dallas’ goals came in the opening period.  The first on a power-play by Brenden Morrow, with assists by Alex Goligoski and Stephane Robidas.  That was followed 5 minutes later with a goal by Loui Eriksson, assisted by Sheldon Souray and Adam Burish.  Eriksson’s goal now gives him points in nine consecutive games against Detroit (7g, 6a, 13pts.).

 

Detroit tied the game with a goal in the 2nd period by Jiri Hudler.  Neither team could manage a score in the 3rd period.

Hudler also scored the only goal in the shootout to give Detroit the win.

This was Dallas’ first shootout loss to since Nov. 25, 2011 vs. Toronto. Dallas now has a 3-2 record in shootouts this season.  

Goaltender Richard Bachman saved 30 of 32 shots.  This was the first shootout of his career.  

The Stars stay home to play Tampa Bay on Friday night at the AAC.
