The Dallas Stars lost to the Chicago Blackhawks 5-2 Monday night in Chicago.  Dallas remains 2 points behind Detroit for the 8th playoff spot.  The loss ends the Stars’ five-game winning streak.

Jamie Benn scored two goals in the game to put Dallas in a 2-2 tie early in the 3rd period.  Chicago then took control of the ice and scored 3 goals in the final 15 minutes to finish the game.   “We kept it close, but we definitely know what we have to do to be the best and beat the best,” said Benn. “Hopefully we can just keep pushing here. We still have a chance to make the playoffs and that’s what we’re going for.

The Blackhawks outshot the Stars 28-18.

Richard Bachman again started at goalkeeper for the injured Kari Lehtonen.  Dallas also received a blow when rookie forward Alex Chiasson took a hit and left the game with a shoulder injury.  “They had a look at his shoulder and it may be a sprain,” head coach Glen Gulutzan said, “so he’s going to be a day-to-day guy.”

The Stars host Vancouver on Thursday night at the American Airlines Center.
