No. 24 TCU traveled to the blue turf of Boise State and ended the Bronco’s hopes for a perfect season.  The Horned Frogs ended No. 5 Boise State’s 35-game home winning streak with the 36-35 victory. TCU is now 5-0 in the Mountain West conference.  It is the 22nd straight MW victory for TCU.

In a back-and-forth game, TCU found themselves down 35-28 with 2 1/2 minutes left.  The Frogs mounted a 7-play, 73-yard drive that culminated with a 25-yard TD pass from quarterback Casey Pachall to Brandon Carter with 1:05 left.

Boise State did not give up, putting together an 8-play drive that fell short when Dan Goodale missed a 39-yard field goal attempt as time expired.

Pachall was the offense for TCU, completing 24 of 37 pass attempts for 473 yards and 5 touchdowns.  Josh Boyce led the receivers with 5 catches for 163 yards and 3 touchdowns.  With five receptions for 163 yards and three touchdowns, Boyce set a career-high in receiving yards and recorded his fourth career 100-yard receiving game. His previous best in receiving yards was 134 on seven receptions versus Louisiana-Monroe earlier this season. Boyce, just a sophomore, now has 15 touchdown receptions, moving him into a tie for fourth place (Stephen Shipley, 1989-92) on TCU’s career list. Cory Rodgers (2003-05) and Mike Renfro (1974-77) share the top spot with 17.

The TCU running game went nowhere, netting just 33 yards on the ground.

Boise State had over 100 yards rushing and 320 passing in the game.  The Broncos faltered on 3rd down, converting just 5 of 13.

Pachall’s career-high 473 yards passing, while completing 24-of-37 passes with five touchdowns, are the most by a TCU quarterback in the 11-season tenure of head coach Gary Patterson. It’s also the second-best single-game total in Horned Frog history, trailing only the 690 yards by Matt Vogler against Houston in 1990.

TCU (8-2) returns home to host Colorado State on Saturday.
