Thursday Night Summer Stampede Racing returns to Texas Motor Speedway
FORT WORTH, Texas (June 9, 2010) – Short-track racing under the lights returns to Texas Motor Speedway this summer with the start of the Thursday Night
Summer Stampede, beginning June 17.
The 10-night racing series culminates with the Bando Nationals on August 21 as drivers from across the nation will compete for a national championship on the quartermile oval along the frontstretch at Texas Motor Speedway.
Drivers of all ages will compete in seven classes in one of the most recognized events for short-track drivers in the country – Bando Bandits (8-12 years old), Bando
Outlaws (12 and up), Thunder Car (16 and up), Legends Young Lions (12-16), Legends Semi-Pro (16-40), Legends Masters (Over 40) and Legends Pro.
Several drivers enter the Summer Stampede season with national and Texas Motor Speedway titles on the line. In the Legends Masters class, three-time national champion and 10-time Summer Stampede champion Buddy Goudy currently is second in the national points standings. Only 35 points separate drivers Sean Anthony, Zack Knowles and Jay Alston in the Legends Semi-Pro standings. Also, defending Legends Pro champion Sean Glennon will attempt to win back-to-back titles in the Summer Stampede.
Gates for the Summer Stampede open each Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. CT, with practice running from 7-7:45 p.m. Racing begins at 8:05 p.m. Tickets are $5, and children 5-and-under receive free admission.
Thursday Night Summer Stampede also will feature special promotions every week during the 10-week period. The scheduled promotions are:
• June 17 – Backpack Giveaway (First 550 fans)
• June 24 – Driver Autograph Session
• July 1 – Fireworks Night
• July 8 – Halloween Madness Costume Contest
• July 22 – $1 Hot Dog Night
• July 29 – Christmas in July (First 500 fans that bring an unwrapped gift will receive a hat)
• Aug. 5 – Bubba Olympics
• Aug. 12 – Elvis Night
• Aug. 19 – Fun in the Summer Frisbee Giveaway (First 500 fans)
• Aug. 20 – Back-to-School Night
O’Reilly Auto Parts is partnering with Texas Motor Speedway at the Lone Star Legends series to offer buy-one, get-one-free vouchers for the Thursday Night Summer Stampede. Vouchers are available at all area O’Reilly Auto Parts stores.
