Yankees power past Rangers

The New York Yankees closed out the series with the Texas Rangers with a 12-5 victory on Sunday in Arlington.

Texas jumped out to a 4 run lead after the first two innings and held it until the 5th.  Reliever Arthur Rhodes, who was the winner in Saturday’s game, earned the loss after giving up back-to-back home runs in the 7th.

The Yankees were not content with a 1-run lead as they pounded Ranger reliever Cody Eppley for 6 runs against only 1 out.  After 3 straight singles, Francisco Cervelli hit a grand slam.  3 batters later, Mark Texeira hits a 2-run homer to send Eppley back to the bench.

The Rangers have lost 10 of the last 14 games.  They will try to turn things around Monday night at home against Oakland.
