Aggies Rout Mustangs
|Texas A&M came into Gerald J. Ford Stadium and embarrassed the home team 48-3 in front of the 6th largest crowd ever at SMU.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Aggies offense came alive and scored on 6 of the next 8 drives. Texas A&M freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel completed 20 of 36 passes for 294 yards and 4 touchdowns. Manziel also led all players with 124 rushing yards. The Aggies offense racked up 605 total yards plus A&M had another 136 yards in kick and punt returns.
SMU defensive end Margus Hunt gave the Mustangs one of the few highlights when he blocked a PAT for his 16th career blocked kick to move into 2nd on the all-time NCAA list.
Running back Zach Line gained 104 rushing yards for his 17th career 100-yard game, second only to Eric Dickerson in school history.
The only SMU points came on a 25 yard field goal by Chase Hover.
The Mustangs have a week off before hosting TCU on September 29th.
