Quarterback Kyler Murray, regarded as one of the nation’s top recruits, confirmed his commitment to Texas A&M with a Twitter post Thursday night.

Murray wrote, “Following my heart. … #GigEm,” the latter a reference to the Aggies’ battle cry.

The Allen (Texas) High School standout previously committed to Texas A&M but recently made an unofficial visit to the University of Texas.

Aggies offensive coordinator Jake Spavital took a swipe at the Longhorns after Murray’s Thursday tweet, posting on his account, “#LetsRide,” the favored hashtag of Texas coach Charlie Strong.

Murray posted a 42-0 record with Allen, leading his team to three consecutive state championships. His final high school stats: 10,388 passing yards (among the top 10 in Texas history), 117 passing touchdowns, 4,093 rushing yards and 69 rushing touchdowns.

Last season, Murray posted a 64.9 percent passing rate while throwing for 4,713 yards and 54 touchdowns. He was selected the Gatorade National Player of the Year.

Murray’s father, Kevin, was an All-America quarterback for Texas A&M in the 1980s.

The Longhorns lost another potential quarterback last weekend when Zach Gentry decommitted and instead chose to attend Michigan.
