Armed Forces Bowl is a sellout

The 2010 Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl game is officially a “sellout”. More than 32,000 in-stadium seats have been sold for the eighth annual post-season football game to be played at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas, Texas. The record attendance for Gerald J. Ford Stadium is 35,481 for the Mustangs’ game earlier this season against TCU on September 24.
The 2010 Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl will mark the 86th post-season college football game to be played in the MetroPlex as the Dallas-Fort Worth area will be hosting three bowl games this season, including the inaugural Dallas Football Classic (January 1) and the 75th Cotton Bowl (January 7). In addition to the current DFW bowl lineup, the area has also hosted three “Dixie Classics” (1922, 1925 and 1934 in Dallas) and “Fort Worth Classic” (1921). Dallas (“Yam Bowl”, 1946 and 1947 Christmas Day, Fort Worth (“Cattle Bowl”, 1947 and 1948 New Year’s Day) and Grand Prairie (“Great Southwest Bowl, 1960 New Year’s Eve) also hosted small-college bowl games.
