AT&T Stadium Sets Record For Ticket Prices

The most expensive face-value tickets for the first College Football playoff championship game are $650 club seats.

Those are considered the most expensive ever for a college football game.

The title game is Jan. 12 at AT&T Stadium in Texas.

The $650 price tag is for the stadium’s 15,000 high-end club seats. General seating in the 80,000-seat stadium is $450. Student seating and standing room is $200. The two schools that advance to the title game will be given 20,000 seats each.

The most expensive face-value seats at the final BCS championship game last January went for $385.

“The price is a bargain for the most important, most talked-about, most in-demand college game of the season, arguably the most compelling game ever,” CFP executive director Bill Hancock wrote in an email to CBS Sports.

Tickets prices for the playoff semifinals at the Rose Bowl and Super Dome have not been set. According to Hancock, the maximum price will be $175 per ticket.

CFP officials have said there are concerns that semifinals may not sell out because fans will to decide, financially, about attending a conference championship game, national semifinal and championship game.
