Baylor falls short in 2010 Texas Bowl

Baylor University was outclassed by Illinois 38-14 in the Texas Bowl, dropping the Big 12 Conference to 0-3 in the game’s history.

Illinois racked up a Texas Bowl record 533 net yards en-route to tying the record for most points in the history of the game.  Illinois RB Mikel Leshoure rushed for a record 187 yards, giving him 1,697 for the season, an Illinois season record.

The Fighting Illini also had success through the air, as QB Nathan Scheelhaase completed 13 passes in a row, another Texas Bowl record.

It is Illinois’ first bowl victory in 10 years.

Baylor QB Robert Griffin III completed 30 of 41 passes for 306 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions.  Unfortunately for the Bears, he also fumbled twice, including on the first possession which set the tone for the game.  This was Baylor’s first bowl appearance in 16 years.
