Cowboys Whip Washington

The Dallas Cowboys secured a convincing 44–22 win over the Washington Commanders on Sunday, October 19, 2025, in Arlington, highlighted by explosive plays on both sides of the ball.

The game’s tone shifted early when Dak Prescott connected with CeeDee Lamb for a 74‑yard touchdown pass, marking Lamb’s return after a high‑ankle sprain. Lamb finished with 110 yards receiving, while Prescott posted three touchdown passes—two of which went to tight end Jake Ferguson, who continued his record‑setting season with his sixth score in four games.

Running back Javonte Williams anchored Dallas’s ground game with 116 yards and a touchdown. The Cowboys’ offense maintained rhythm throughout, propelled by Brandon Aubrey’s 61‑yard field goal, making him the first NFL kicker with five career makes from beyond 60 yards.

Washington briefly led 8‑7 in the first quarter after a safety and a Jayden Daniels touchdown pass to Zach Ertz. However, Daniels’ exit in the third quarter with a hamstring injury shifted momentum decisively toward Dallas. The Commanders’ offense struggled under backup Marcus Mariota, whose first drive ended with a 68‑yard interception‑return touchdown by cornerback DaRon Bland—the Cowboys’ fourth defensive score of the season.

Despite running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. adding a short touchdown for Washington, missed defensive assignments and a rash of injuries—including one to sack leader Dorance Armstrong—hampered any hope of a comeback.

With the victory, Dallas improved to 3‑3‑1, climbing to second in the NFC East behind Philadelphia, while Washington fell to 3‑4. The Cowboys visit Denver next week, and the Commanders travel to Kansas City for a Monday night game that could define their midseason trajectory.
