Dallas Open Field Announced

DALLAS (January 9, 2024) – The Dallas Open today announced the player field for this year’s ATP tournament. Now in its third year, the 2024 Dallas Open is scheduled to be played February 3-11 at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex at SMU.

Three of the top four Americans in the world highlight the recent commitments. Tommy Paul (currently ranked No. 14), Ben Shelton (No. 16), and Frances Tiafoe (No. 17) will play in the 2024 Dallas Open.

Paul, making his Dallas Open debut, is looking to build on a successful 2023 after reaching two of his three career finals last year and his first Grand Slam semifinal appearance (Australian Open). The 26-year old is two spots behind his career-high ranking of No. 12 in the world and is the top-ranked player in this year’s field.

The youngest American ranked in the top 50 is 2022 NCAA national champion Ben Shelton. The 21-year old captured his first career title in October in Tokyo. Like Paul, Shelton will be making his Dallas Open debut this year. Shelton reached the semifinals at the 2023 US Open, becoming the youngest American man to reach a major semifinal since Andy Roddick in 2003.

Tiafoe, a quarterfinalist in last year’s Dallas Open, is one of the most electric players on tour. Tiafoe secured two titles last year, making 2023 his most successful of his career. Tiafoe spent 10 weeks ranked in the top ten in the Pepperstone ATP Rankings last season.

Former Dallas Open champion (2022) Reilly Opelka has received a wild card invitation to this year’s tournament. Opelka is hoping to return to top-form as he’s played just one tournament since August 2022, recovering from hip surgery. Opelka was a two-time winner in 2022 before suffering his injury.

SMU’s Adam Neff has been extended a Dallas Open wild card invitation. The reigning American Athletic Conference Player of the Year returns to the Dallas Open for a second time after playing singles and doubles in 2022. Also earning a wild card invitation is 19-year old Ethan Quinn who turned pro in June 2023 after winning the NCAA Singles Championship with the Georgia Bulldogs.

Other top-50 players in the Dallas Open field include Adrian Mannarino, Christopher Eubanks, Mackenzie McDonald, Max Purcell, and Jordan Thompson.

“We’re very excited to have Tommy Paul and Ben Shelton in Dallas for the first time this year and to once again showcase some of the world’s best tennis players at the Dallas Open,” said Peter Lebedevs, Dallas Open tournament director. “From exciting young players to savvy veterans, this year’s field will be a joy to watch for new and longtime tennis fans alike. We’re looking forward to a fantastic week of tennis at the 2024 Dallas Open.”
